Many around the world, including in the Midwest, are gathering to support the people of Ukraine.
Please join us to remember the thousands of innocent Ukrainians that have lost their lives and to come together in prayer for the triumph of freedom, love, and peace in our beloved Ukraine.
We invite faith leaders from all traditions to share in a unified prayer for the Ukrainian people.
Ukrainians are fighting today not just for their lives and country, but for freedom against one of its biggest opponents in the world today.
We will march from the Ukrainian Community Center towards the Stone Arch Bridge. We will be carrying teddy bears (please bring one if you can) representing the Ukrainian children that have been lost their lives due to Russian bombing of civilians.
On the bridge we will place the toys and kneel before them. The priest and a rabbi will say prayers and we will sing “Eternal Memory - Vichnaya Pamyat.” This is a very powerful song that is sung at Ukrainian funerals to communicate the idea that we will always love and remember those we have lost and they will continue to live through us. We will tell stories of Ukrainians who have lost their lives and pray for the triumph of peace, justice, and freedom for the people of Ukraine. We will then sing the Ukrainian anthem and release blue and yellow smoke as a symbol of our prayers and a tribute to the Ukrainian people.
