Ukrainian embroidery is an ancient and symbolic tradition that occupies a central place in Ukraine’s culture and national identity. Going back more than 2500 years ago, Greek historians described the people of Ukraine as wearing beautifully embroidered clothing. The primary object of clothing that was decorated with embroidery was the shirt or vyshyvanka.

The Ukrainian people and their culture have survived centuries of oppression. More than ever, the vyshyvanka continues to be a symbol of Ukrainian cultural resistance and pride.

Vyshyvanka is the spiritual armor of Ukrainians!
Ukraine is the armor that protects the entire world!
